Dr Sara Yael Hirschhorn

University Research Lecturer, Faculty of Oriental Studies & Sidney Brichto Fellow in Israel Studies, Oxford Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies; Junior Research Fellow, Wolfson College


Dr Hirschhorn's primary research interests are the Israeli settler movement, the Arab-Israeli conflict, and US-Israel relations. She is also interested in the wider history and politics of modern Israel; Israel's role in the modern Middle East; and immigration, nationalism, ultra-nationalism, religion and state, and women and gender.

Media experience

She is a regular media commentator and public speaker.  She contributes a regular op-ed column to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, and has written for the New York Times, the BBC, Moment, Forward, Times of Israel, and many other Jewish/Israel periodicals. She has appeared on television and radio for BBC, Al-Jazeera, NPR, and other media outlets.
