New Fellows of British Academy announced

Nine academics from Oxford University have been elected as Fellows of the British Academy for their research in the humanities and social scientists.

In total, 42 academics have been elected as Fellows, 20 have been named Corresponding Fellows from overseas universities, and three have been elected as Honorary Fellows. Oxford has more new Fellows this year than any other university.

Lord Stern, President of the British Academy, said: 'Our Fellows play a vital role in the work of the Academy; encouraging younger researchers, engaging in public discussion of the great issues and ideas of our time, and contributing to policy reports.

'Their collective work and expertise are testament to why research in the humanities and social sciences is vital for our understanding of the world and humanity.'
