Postdoctoral Research Associate in Geodesy and Geophysics, Centre for the Observation and Modelling of Earthquakes, Volcanoes and Tectonics (COMET), Department of Earth Sciences

Dr Elliott’s main interest lies in the measurement of surface deformation associated with the accumulation and release of strain in the earthquake cycle. His research aims to help improve our understanding of the nature of continental faulting and assessment of seismic hazard. He uses the satellite based geodetic technique of radar interferometry (InSAR) to make measurements of ground displacement which are then used to build up a model of the slip that occurred in the earthquake. His current focus is on earthquakes which have occurred across the Tibetan Plateau as well as in Yushu, China and New Zealand.
