About

Professor Purcell has written widely on Mediterranean history and the ancient city of Rome. He studies many different aspects of the Roman world, from the beginnings in the archaic period to the age of the sack of Rome in AD 410.  He is also interested in how ancient history can help to answer global historical questions.
