Dark Blues wear pink for charity

Oxford University’s sports teams are known worldwide by their dark blue kit but the rugby union team will wear bright pink jerseys for a charity match on 27 February.

Oxford University Rugby Football Club wore the jerseys for Against Breast Cancer, an Oxfordshire charity which funds research into the disease.

John Carter, captain of the Blues, said: 'The boys are thrilled to be supporting Against Breast Cancer this year and we’re hoping for a huge turnout.'

An auction of the pink Jack Wills jerseys will raise money for the charity.

The match against HSBC Penguins takes place at 7.15pm this evening at Iffley Road. Tickets can be bought on the door and cost £5 (£1 concessions).

2013 promises to be a landmark year for rugby at Oxford University, as it has been revealed that the Oxford University Rugby League team will also play their home games at Iffley Road starting this summer.
