Professor Darby is a member of the secretariat of the Early Breast Cancer Trialists’ Collaborative Group (EBCTCG), which carries out meta-analyses of individual patient data from randomised controlled trials of various treatments for breast cancer, and she leads the analyses of effects of radiotherapy and surgery. She also leads a number of studies to evaluate the long-term risk of heart disease and other serious side-effects from cancer treatments, and works on several studies to evaluate the risk of cancer from exposure to ionising radiation.
