Dr Foster is a policy advisor on physical activity, sport and active travel to the Department of Health, Sport England, and the Department for Transport. He was formerly Director of the Centre for Public Health Evidence for Physical Activity for NICE and the author of the 2011 Chief Medical Officers report of physical activity and health. He is also an invited expert for the World Health Organisation on physical activity, walking, measurement, and economics.
