Lights, camera, climate change!

Antarctica is one of the best places to study climate change; which is why Simon Lamb, from Oxford's Department of Earth Sciences has just been filming there. Simon has teamed up with director David Sington to make The Tipping Point, a movie which aims to bring the science of climate change to a wide audience. Apart from the fantastic locations the stars of the film will be the scientists working around the world to record and understand changes in our climate. Simon tells me they have shot over 40 hours of material covering a whole range of research projects in Antarctica. In a few months they will set off on a cruise to investigate the chilly Southern Ocean. I'll be interviewing Simon soon to find out what it's like filming in Earth's last great wilderness and which projects have captured his imagination so far.
The film is financially supported by Oxford University and Victoria University of Wellington.
