Student satisfaction is one of the criteria looked at in deciding Britain's top university

Oxford has been named Britain’s best university for the eighth year in a row by the Times Good University Guide.

The University scores the top marks overall for staffing levels, degree classifications and spending on student facilities, such as libraries.

Oxford is also top of nine subject tables, including medicine and economics.

Vice-Chancellor of Oxford University, Dr John Hood, said: ‘I’m pleased that Oxford continues to be seen as the top university in the Times’ guide. This is the third university guide this year to put Oxford at the head of their overall league table and the eighth year Oxford has held number one position in the Good University Guide. This continuing success is down to the commitment of staff and students across the whole collegiate University.’

The eight criteria looked at by the Good University Guide include student satisfaction; the ratio of staff to students; services and facilities spend; entry standards and graduate prospects.
