Online application for graduate courses at Oxford launched

An online application system is now available for those wanting to study at postgraduate level at the University of Oxford.

Applicants for courses starting in October 2008 will be able to submit their application via the internet and upload electronic copies of supporting materials, such as their curriculum vitae. They can also register email details of their referees, who will then be contacted directly for references.

The system does not require candidates to complete the application in one sitting - it allows applicants to save a part-completed form and to sign in again and complete remaining sections at a later stage.

The Academic Registrar for the University of Oxford, Michael Sibly, said: 'The generation that is now applying has grown up with the internet and we find that candidates, especially those from overseas, expect to be able to apply online.

'The University has responded to this demand by setting up a robust system that ensures ease of use and complete confidentiality. This applies irrespective of whether candidates use their private computer or a computer in a public space.

'Those preferring to apply on paper will still be able to do so.'

Full details of the programmes that are available, closing dates, guidance notes for applying online and on paper, and a link to the online application form are available at postgraduate application website. There is a £25 application fee for each programme of study applied to.
