Launch of Opening Doors, Opening Minds
19 Jun 07
Oxford is opening its doors with a wealth of special events, walks and free activities planned for the festival Opening Doors, Opening Minds, which celebrates 1,000 years of Oxfordshire. The festival, from 23-24 June, is organised by the Oxford Preservation Trust in partnership with the University of Oxford.
Among the highlights is a concert at the Saïd Business School. On Friday 22 June at 6.30pm, musicians and singers from the Oxfordshire County Music Service are performing in the unusual setting of the outdoor amphitheatre at the School. Young talent from across the county will be showcased in the evening's performance including a choir of young voices, a brass ensemble playing music by Dukas, Chris Hazell and Stuart Johnson, a string quartet interpreting pieces by Smetana and Dvorak and the flute choir. Tickets are free of charge, and available to book.
Over 25 sites and buildings are involved, including Oxford colleges and the University's museums. To book any of events, please contact the University Promotions Officer, Wendy Fuggles, on 01865 280533.
