Oxford’s links with East Asia, in particular with China, Japan and Korea, are among its most important, and rank among the most extensive of any university in the West.
In China, for example, Oxford’s Clinical Trial Service Unit (CSTU) collaborates with Chinese partners on a globally unique, massive study of chronic diseases: the China Kadoorie Biobank (CKB). Oxford is collaborating with Chinese partners on world leading medical research into diabetes, infectious and tropical diseases, and major depression. In Japan, Oxford has collaborated with numerous Japanese scientific institutions in the fields of plasma physics, bionanotechnology, astrophysics and particle physics. The University has collaboration agreements with three of Korea’s top universities, and collaborations with Korean institutions on areas ranging from bionanoscience to astrophysics to cancer research.
