Changes in Regulations

The Planning and Resource Allocation Committee of Council has made the following changes in regulations, to come into effect on 20 February.

(a) Marshal Foch Professor of French Literature

Explanatory Note

The following changes amend the composition of the electoral board of the Marshal Foch Professor of French Literature to comply with the general provisions for electoral boards laid down in Council Regulations 3 of 2004. They also replace references to 'decrees' with reference to 'regulations'.

Text of Regulations

In Sect III of Council Regulations 24 of 2002, concerning individual professorships, delete §96 and substitute (new text underlined, deleted text scored through):

'§96. Marshal Foch Professor of French Literature

1. The Marshal Foch Professor of French Literature shall undertake research, lecture and give instruction in French Literature and shall promote generally the study of that subject in the University.

2. The professor shall be elected by an electoral board consisting of:

(1) the Vice-Chancellor, or, if the head of the college specified in (4) of this clause is Vice-Chancellor, a person appointed by Council on the occurrence of a vacancy to act as an elector on that occasion;

(2), (3) two persons appointed by the Council of the University of Paris;

(4) the head of the college to which the professorship shall be for the time being allocated by Council under any decree in that behalf may be allocated by Council from time to time, or, if the head is unable or unwilling to act, a person appointed by the governing body of the college on the occurrence of a vacancy to act as an elector on that occasion;

(5) a person appointed by the governing body of the college specified in (4) of this clause;

(6) a person appointed by Council;

(7) a person appointed by the General Board;

(7) the Head of the Humanities Division, or his or her nominee;

(8), (9) two persons elected by the Board of the Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages.

3. The professor shall be subject to the General Provisions of the regulations decree concerning the duties of professors and to those Particular Provisions of the same regulations decree which are applicable to this chair.'

(b) Professor of Physiological Metabolism: corrigendum

Explanatory Note

When changes were made to the regulations to establish a new Professor of Physiological Metabolism (Gazette 15 January 2015, p224), the regulations should have referred to the 'Hans Krebs Professor of Physiological Metabolism'.

Text of Regulations

In SCHEDULE A of Council Regulations 3 of 2004 and Sect III of Council Regulations 24 of 2002, delete each reference to the 'Professor of Physiological Metabolism' and replace with a reference to the 'Hans Krebs Professor of Physiological Metabolism'.
