¶ Members of Congregation are reminded that any two members may, not later than noon on 17 February, give notice in writing to the Registrar that they intend to oppose or amend any of the resolutions below or wish to discuss the Annual Review of the University (see the note on the conduct of business in Congregation below). If no such notice has been given, and unless Council has declared otherwise or the meeting has been adjourned, each resolution shall be carried and the Annual Review declared presented and the meeting may be cancelled.

(1) Voting on Resolutions approving the conferment of Honorary Degrees

(i) That the conferment of the Degree of Doctor of Divinity, honoris causa, upon The Most Reverend Dr Katharine Jefferts Schori, PhD, Presiding Bishop and Primate of the Episcopal Church in the United States of America and sixteen other nations, be approved.

(ii) That the conferment of the Degree of Doctor of Letters, honoris causa, upon Sir Anish Kapoor, CBE, RA, artist and sculptor, Turner Prizewinner, Honorary Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects, be approved.

(iii) That the conferment of the Degree of Doctor of Letters, honoris causa, upon Mr Robert Silvers, BA Chicago, editor and co-founder of the New York Review of Books, Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, Honorary Fellow of the British Academy, be approved.

(iv) That the conferment of the Degree of Doctor of Science, honoris causa, upon Professor Wallace Broecker, PhD, Newberry Professor of Geology, Columbia University, Crafoord Prizewinner, Balzan Prizewinner, Member of the National Academy of Sciences of the USA, Foreign Member of the Royal Society, be approved.

(v) That the conferment of the Degree of Doctor of Science, honoris causa, upon Professor Jean-Marie Lehn, PhD, Honorary Professor of Chemistry, Collège de France, Emeritus Professor, University of Strasbourg, Nobel Prizewinner in Chemistry, Honorary Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, member of the Académie des Sciences, Foreign Associate of the National Academy of Sciences of the USA, be approved.

(vi) That the conferment of the Degree of Doctor of Music, honoris causa, upon Sir Harrison Birtwistle, CH, RAM (Hon FRAM), composer, Visiting Professor at the Royal Academy of Music, be approved.

¶ If the resolutions are approved, the honorary degrees will be conferred at the Encaenia on 25 June.

(2) Presentation of the Annual Review of the University

The Annual Review of the University for 2012–13 (Supplement *1 to Gazette, Vol 144, January 2014) will be presented and may be discussed.
