Consultation on the draft IT Strategic Plan

Comments are invited on the draft Information Technology (IT) Strategic Plan for the collegiate University. The Plan is one of a number of enabling strategies (with finance, estates and development) designed to support the University’s Strategic Plan 2013–18. It sets out the key IT objectives over the next five years and initial activities to support those objectives. It also addresses the need to increase the effectiveness of IT investment by developing governance structures and process around IT planning and implementation. The draft Plan is available at www.it.ox.ac.uk/news/strategicplan. Comments should be sent to itstrategy@it.ox.ac.uk by 20 December.

Gazette publication arrangements

The final Gazettes of Michaelmas term will be published on 5 and 12 December. Publication for Hilary term will begin on 16 January. The usual deadline arrangements will apply.

Language Centre

Catch-Up Brush-Up Courses

The Language Centre is offering a series of intensive courses between 9 and 13 December for those who wish to refresh their language skills, with the view to joining weekly classes in Hilary term. The languages available are Arabic, French, German, Italian, Mandarin, Russian and Spanish. Email admin@lang.ox.ac.uk for more information on fees, class times and how to apply.

Jason Schnell, BS Minnesota, PhD Scripps Institute, Fellow and Tutor in Biochemistry, St John’s, and University Lecturer in Biochemistry, has been reappointed until the retiring age with effect from 1 April 2014.

The Social Sciences Division has, on the recommendation of the School of Anthropology, reconferred the title of Visiting Professor on Dr Mohammad Talib, PhD Jamia Millia, for five years from 1 October 2012 to 30 September 2017.
