Consultation on possible revisions to Statute XII

The Personnel Committee is consulting individuals and bodies within the collegiate University on the desirability of possible revisions to Statute XII, which governs the employment of academic and academic-related staff.  The consultation runs from 27 February to 4 June 2014. The full consultation paper, explaining how responses may be submitted and to whom questions should be addressed, is published as a supplement with this issue of the Gazette. The consultation paper is also available on the Statute XII consultation website at Responses to the consultation will be published on a restricted area of this website after the consultation closes.

Oxford University Staff Scholarship for the Executive MBA course at the Saïd Business School

Applications are invited from University staff to be selected for the Staff Scholarship for the 21-month Executive MBA course at the Saïd Business School, starting in January 2015. The nominee, if successful in their application to the business school, will have his or her course fees covered by his or her department's budget. Applicants for the Staff Scholarship will therefore need the support of their department (including financial support to cover the course fees, college battels and other costs, and the time required to complete the course).

Applicants will need to demonstrate capacity to work at a postgraduate level, and show how they and their department would benefit from pursuing the programme. The nominee will be expected to remain working for the University for at least 2 years after completing the programme. The closing date for applications to be nominated is 2 May 2014 and the final application closing date to the Saïd Business School is 31 October 2014. Professorship of Statistics

Arnaud Doucet, MEng Télécom Sud-Paris, PhD Paris XI, Professor and University Lecturer, Department of Statistics, University of Oxford; Tutorial Fellow of Statistics, Jesus; Member, Oxford–Man Institute of Quantitative Finance, and EPSRC Established Career Fellow, has been appointed to the Professorship of Statistics in the Department of Statistics with effect from 1 March 2014. Professor Doucet will be a fellow of Hertford.

The Medical Sciences Board has conferred the title of University Research Lecturer on Gareth Bond, BS, PhD, Assistant Member/Principal Investigator, Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, Nuffield Department of Clinical Medicine.

Evening Concert

The Hertford Bruckner Orchestra will perform Bruckner's Overture in G minor, Wagner's Good Friday Music from Parsifal, and Beethoven's Symphony no 7 at 8pm on Saturday, 8 March, in the University Church of St Mary the Virgin. Tickets: £7.50 (£5 concessions) from Hertford lodge or on the door.
