Research participants sought

HSPR Experiences of multiple conditions. As part of a National Institute for Health Research project, we are looking to interview (either in person or by telephone) both patients and GPs across the country about their experiences of managing multiple conditions, and to seek their thoughts on what might help them to manage these conditions better. We are interested in speaking to patients with at least two of the following conditions: asthma, COPD, diabetes, epilepsy, heart failure and stroke. We would also like to speak to GPs about the issues they face with patients with these conditions, and what they feel could be changed to improve clinical management and patient outcomes. Researchers at the University of Oxford seek healthy volunteers aged 45–70 for a study that examines brain mechanisms of non-motor learning. Volunteers will take part in a learning task that involves reading. Results will be compared with individuals with movement disorders. Held at the John Radcliffe Hospital; lasts approx 2 hours. Child Language Study participants needed: we are seeking families willing to take part in research into children's language problems, and the language problems in autism. The research involves 3 half-hour testing sessions with the children, and a phone interview with a parent. We are seeking 3 groups of children: children with an autism spectrum condition, children who have language problems, and children who have no developmental concerns. Oxford University Newcomers' Club

The Oxford University Newcomers' Club at the University Club, 11 Mansfield Rd, OX1 3SZ, welcomes the wives, husbands or partners of visiting scholars, of graduate students and of newly appointed academic members of the University.
