Changes in Regulations
The Planning and Resource Allocation Committee of Council has made the following changes in regulations, to come into immediate effect.
Barnett Professor of Social Policy
Explanatory Note
These changes, made on the recommendation of the Social Sciences Board and the Planning and Resource Allocation Committee of Council, update the regulations for the Barnett Professor of Social Policy to reflect current governance arrangements and remove outdated references.
Text of Regulations
In Sect III of Council Regulations 24 of 2002, concerning individual professorships, delete § 296 and substitute (new text underlined, deleted text struck through):
'§ 296. Barnett Professor of Social Policy
1. The Barnett Professor of Social Policy shall lecture and give instruction in Social Policy.
2. The professor shall be elected by an electoral board consisting of:
(1) the Vice-Chancellor, or, if the head of the college specified in (2) of this clause is Vice-Chancellor, a person appointed by Council;
(2) the head of the college to which the professorship shall be for the time being allocated by Council under any decreeregulation in that behalf, or, if the head is unable or unwilling to act, a person appointed by the governing body of the college;
(3) a person appointed by the governing body of the college specified in (2) of this clause;
(4), (5) atwo persons appointed by Council;
(5),(6) twoa persons appointed by the GeneralSocial Sciences Board;
(7)–(9) three persons appointed by the Board of the Faculty of Social StudiesDepartment of Social Policy and Intervention.
3. The professor shall be subject to the General Provisions of the decreeregulations concerning the duties of professors and to those Particular Provisions of the same decreeregulations which are applicable to this chair.'
