Consultation on the draft University Strategic Plan
On 5 November 2012, Council approved the draft of the University Strategic Plan, contained in a supplement to the Gazette of 29 November 2012, as a document for wide consultation across the University during Hilary term 2013. Submissions on the draft plan are now invited from all bodies within the collegiate University as well as from individuals. Responses should be sent to strategic.plan@admin.ox.ac.uk by the end of ninth week of Hilary term. Responses will be posted online at https://www1.admin.ox.ac.uk/pras/strategicplan, unless permission is withheld. An electronic version of the draft Strategic Plan has also been posted on this site.
A Discussion on the topic of The University's Draft Strategic Plan (2013/14–2017/18) will take place at the Congregation meeting on 19 February (week 6); see notice in 'Congregation' section, above.

Medical Sciences
Action Research Professorship of Clinical Neurology
Peter Malcolm Rothwell, MB ChB MD PhD Edin, MA Oxf, Professor of Clinical Neurology, Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences; Director, Stroke Prevention Research Unit; Lead, Stroke and Dementia Research, Oxford Biomedical Research Centre; Honorary Consultant Neurologist, Oxford University Hospitals Trust; and Senior Research Fellow, Green Templeton, has been appointed to the Action Research Professorship of Clinical Neurology in the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences with effect from 1 January 2013.
Professor Rothwell will be a fellow of St Edmund Hall.
Social Sciences
Halford Mackinder Professorship of Geography
Daniel Dorling, BSc PhD Newc, Professor of Human Geography, Department of Geography, University of Sheffield; Visiting Professor, Department of Social Medicine, University of Bristol; and Adjunct Professor, Department of Geography, University of Canterbury, New Zealand, has been appointed to the Halford Mackinder Professorship of Geography in the School of Geography and the Environment with effect from 1 September 2013.
Professor Dorling will be a fellow of St Peter's.
Barnett Professorship of Social Policy
Martin Seeleib-Kaiser, MA PhD Ludwig Maximilians, Habil Bremen, Professor of Comparative Social Policy and Politics; Head, Department of Social Policy and Intervention; and Fellow, Green Templeton, has been appointed to the Barnett Professorship of Social Policy in the Department of Social Policy and Intervention with effect from 1 February 2013.
Professor Seeleib-Kaiser will be a fellow of St Cross.
