Visiting Professorships

Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences

The Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Divisional Board has conferred the following titles:

Visiting Professor in Engineering Science upon Roderick A Smith, MA PhD ScD Camb, MA Oxf, FREng, CEng, FIMechE, FIM, FCGI, President of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, for a period of three years from 1 May 2012.

Visiting Professor in Physics upon Michael F Thorpe, BSc Manc, DPhil DSc Oxf, Foundation Professor of Physics, Chemistry and Biochemistry at Arizona State University, for a period of three years from 1 May 2012.

Visiting Professor in Computational Medicine upon James M Wild, MA Camb, MSc Sheff, PhD Edin, Professor of Magnetic Resonance Physics, Sheffield, for a period of three years from 1 May 2012.

Visiting Professor in Zoology upon Christopher Dye, BA York, DPhil Oxf, Director of Health Information in the Office of HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases, World Health Organization, for a further period of three years from 1 June 2012.

Visiting Professor in Materials upon Robert Falster, BS MS PhD, currently Senior Fellow at MEMC Electronic Materials Inc, for a further period of three years from 1 February 2012.

Visiting Professor in Computer Science upon Ashwin Srinivasan, BE PhD New South Wales, Research Staff Member at IBM India Research Laboratory, for a further period of three years from 1 March 2012.

Visiting Professor in Particle and Accelerator Physics upon Emmanuel Tsesmelis, BSc MSc Melbourne, PhD Dortmund, MAIP, currently Senior Physicist at CERN, for a further period of three years from 1 September 2012.


Recognition of Distinction
