Volunteers Needed

Over 60? Want to start exercising? Researchers at Oxford University are investigating the effect physical activity has on the brain. Participants will be given a free supervised exercise programme and undergo MRI brain scans. Learning and sleep after stroke. We are looking for volunteers to take part in a research study. The study aims to find out how stroke affects sleep. We would like to hear from people who have had a stroke and also from healthy people. The study involves having a brain scan and then wearing a wrist band to measure your activity for 3 weeks. During those 3 weeks we would monitor your sleep using brain recordings over 3 nights in your own home. You would be reimbursed for your time and expenses. Poetry readings

Two poetry readings and refreshments (free) at 43 St Giles', Oxford Quaker Meeting House, at 7 for 7.30 pm. On 7 May: Philip Gross will read and talk from Deep Field. On 21 May:  R V Bailey will read and talk about her work and that of U A Fanthorpe, her partner for 44 years. There will be a collection in aid of Oxford Friends Action on Poverty (OXFAP). Panel discussion

'Educating the 22nd-century Child' hosted by Hogan Lovells on 14 May at 6.30 pm. Already over a decade into the 21st century, the Dragon School is aware that it is educating children who may well live into the 22nd century. Those in schools today already deal with knowledge and technology evolving at unprecedented speed, so how should education equip learners for tomorrow?
