Research participants sought

Collaborative learning in young people: we are currently recruiting participants for a study of how young people may learn from one another. To participate, your child must be male, 10–12 or 14–16 years old, and able to find a friend (from the same age group) who can come along to the Department of Experimental Psychology. The task is simple but fun; and both children will be reimbursed (£20 each). Please visit http://redd.psy.ox.ac.uk for further information.

Would you be willing to help us make our research relevant to over 60s? We are looking for a group of adults over 60 years of age to help shape future research in the field of psychology. We are adapting many of our tasks and measures for use with older adults and we want to make sure the changes we make are relevant. If you have an hour or two to spare and would be willing to help, please contact cha@psych.ox.ac.uk or phone Erin Drazich on 01865 613197.

Do you care for someone who uses telecare equipment at home? The AKTIVE project is trying to find out how telecare – including pendant alarms, motion sensors and fall detectors – affects older people and those who care for them. We are holding two discussion groups in July and August in Oxfordshire Resource and Wellbeing Centres with unpaid carers to find out what it’s like to care for an older person and whether telecare makes an impact. If you have experience of telecare equipment, we would like to hear from you. We will provide a free lunch, a gift of £20 to each carer who attends and also provide replacement care. If you think you can tell us about your experiences of care and telecare, please contact our research team on: 01865 612816/ kate.hamblin@ageing.ox.ac.uk.
