Changes in Regulations

The following changes in regulations made by the Education Committee of Council, and, with the approval, where appropriate, of the Education Committee, and, where applicable, of divisional boards, the following changes in regulations made by the Continuing Education Board and boards of faculties will come into effect on 6 November.

1 Education Committee

Regulations for the conduct of university examinations

With immediate effect

In Examination Regulations, 2009, p. 40, delete ll. 23–33 and insert:

'14.5. (1) Except in cases to which regulations 11.2–11.7 or 14.3 and 14.4 above apply a candidate who fails to appear for any part of a University Examination (including a viva voce examination other than as specified in (2) below) will be deemed to have failed the entire Examination or, in the case of a Second Public Examination taken over more than one year, the entire Part of the Examination.

(2) This regulation shall not apply where candidates (a) fail to appear for, or to submit work in respect of, optional papers supplementary to the compulsory elements of the examination; (b) fail to appear for a viva voce examination which has the sole purpose of confirming their final position in a class or pass list.'

2 Continuing Education Board

Undergraduate Advanced Diploma in Environmental Conservation

With immediate effect

In Examination Regulations, 2009, p. 954, ll. 28–29, delete 'A candidate who fails to submit an essay by the due date will fail the examination.'

(b) M.Sc in Global Health Science

With immediate effect

(e) Honour School of Philosophy and Modern Languages

With immediate effect

In Examination Regulations, 2009, p. 405, l. 4, delete 'IIA(i) and IIB(i)' and substitute 'IIA and IIB'.
