CONSULTATIVE NOTICESCommittee on Statutes before the Privy CouncilChrist Church: revised statutesThe Committee on Statutes before the Privy Council, acting under authority delegated to it by Council, is minded to give consent on behalf of the University to the revised Statutes of Christ Church, approved by the Governing Body on 26 May 2010, in so far as such consent is required by Section 7 (2) of the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge Act, 1923. The consent of the committee to the amendments to the Statutes will be effective eleven days after publication of this notice unless written notice of a resolution, signed by at least twenty members of Congregation, calling upon Council to withhold that consent, has been given to the Registrar by noon on Monday, 2 August. The effects of the amendments are to revise the format, order and language of the Statutes after the last major review in 1963, to add a list of contents, and to ensure compliance with the responsibilities of trustees of registered charities. Jesus College: revised statutesThe Committee on Statutes before the Privy Council, acting under authority delegated to it by Council, is minded to give consent on behalf of the University to the amendment to Statutes II, III, IV and X of Jesus College, approved by the Governing Body on 19 May 2010, in so far as such consent is required by Section 7 (2) of the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge Act, 1923. The consent of the committee to the amendments to the Statutes will be effective eleven days after publication of this notice unless written notice of a resolution, signed by at least twenty members of Congregation, calling upon Council to withhold that consent, has been given to the Registrar by noon on Monday, 2 August. The effects of the amendments are to provide objects clauses which reflect the college's present charitable purposes; to amend provisions relating to the remuneration of the Principal and Fellows of the college; to make provision for the Remuneration Committee within the Statutes and to provide a statutory requirement for a code to deal with conflicts of interest. Lady Margaret Hall: revised statutesThe Committee on Statutes before the Privy Council, acting under authority delegated to it by Council, is minded to give consent on behalf of the University to the revised Statutes of Lady Margaret Hall, approved by the Governing Body on 16 June 2010, in so far as such consent is required by Section 7 (2) of the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge Act, 1923. The consent of the committee to the amendments to the Statutes will be effective eleven days after publication of this notice unless written notice of a resolution, signed by at least twenty members of Congregation, calling upon Council to withhold that consent, has been given to the Registrar by noon on Monday, 2 August. The effects of the amendments are to clarify the powers and responsibilities of the college's Governing Body, as trustees of a charity requiring registration with the Charity Commission, and to comply with current legislation more broadly, as well as to update for revised college practices.

APPOINTMENTSConferments of the Title of Visiting ProfessorThe Humanities Board has conferred the title of Visiting Professor in Philosophy on PROFESSOR BRIAN LEITER, AB Princeton, JD PH.D Michigan, John P. Wilson Professor of Law and Director of the Center for Law, Philosophy and Human Values at the University of Chicago, from 1 October 2011 to 30 September 2012. The Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Board has conferred the title of Visiting Professor in Computer Science on LUCA CARDELLI, LAUREA Pisa, PH.D Edin, FRS, currently Principal Researcher at Microsoft Research, Cambridge, for seven years from 1 September 2010. The Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Board has conferred the title of Visiting Professor in Computer Science on RICHARD GABRIEL, BA Northeastern, MS Illinois, PH.D Stanford, currently Distinguished Engineer at IBM Research, for three years from 1 August 2010. On the recommendation of the School of Archaeology, the Social Sciences Board has conferred the title of Visiting Professor of Archaeology on PROFESSOR J. HUNTER, BA PH.D PG.DIP Durh, from 1 October 2010 until 30 September 2013. On the recommendation of the Department of Economics, the Social Sciences Board has conferred the title of Visiting Professor in Economics on PROFESSOR A.
