PLANNING AND RESOURCE ALLOCATION COMMITTEE OF COUNCILChanges in RegulationsThe Planning and Resource Allocation Committee of Council has approved the following changes in regulations, to come into effect on 7 May. George Eastman Visiting ProfessorExplanatory NoteThese changes, made on the recommendation of Balliol College and the divisions concerned, reduce to four the number of electors of the Eastman Visiting Professor appointed by Council so as to allow one representative from each of the four academic divisions (the now defunct Life and Environmental Sciences Division having been represented by the fifth elector). The amendments also increase the number of electors appointed by Balliol College to two in order to retain a nine-member board and to bring the college's representation into line with that of other similar boards. The opportunity is also taken to remove reference to decrees, and to update the reference to the University's Statutes. The Planning and Resource Allocation Committee approved these changes on 29 June 2009 but, owing to an administrative oversight, the revised regulations were not published in the Gazette. These changes are being backdated to the date when they would have come into force, had they been published in the Gazette of 16 July 2009. Text of Regulations1 In Sect. III of Council Regulations 24 of 2002, concerning individual professorships (Statutes, 2000, p. 512, as redesignated as regulations by Decree (5) of 11 July 2002, Gazette, Vol. 132, p. 1461), in § 320.2 delete paragraphs (4)–(9) and substitute: '(4)–(7) four persons appointed by Council; (8)–(9) two persons appointed by the Governing Body of Balliol College.' 2 Ibid., in regulation 5 delete 'decree' and substitute 'regulations'. 3 Ibid., in regulation 6 delete 'Ch.
