Research Studentship—mechanical characterisation of soil–pipe interaction

Applications are invited for the above studentship which is funded by British Petroleum (BP). Candidates must be EU nationals, and remuneration will be £14,200 per annum (and will increase in subsequent years), with all fees paid. Applicants should have a good honours degree (first-class or 2.1) or equivalent in engineering, mathematics or a related physical science subject, and an enthusiasm for academic research. Previous experience with the DEM (the Discrete Element Method) will be considered an advantage. Programming experience (either Fortran or C/C++) would be advantageous.
