Department of Engineering ScienceResearch Studentship—mechanical characterisation of soil–pipe interactionApplications are invited for the above studentship which is funded by British Petroleum (BP). Candidates must be EU nationals, and remuneration will be £14,200 per annum (and will increase in subsequent years), with all fees paid. Applicants should have a good honours degree (first-class or 2.1) or equivalent in engineering, mathematics or a related physical science subject, and an enthusiasm for academic research. Previous experience with the DEM (the Discrete Element Method) will be considered an advantage. Programming experience (either Fortran or C/C++) would be advantageous.
