Oxford University Gazette, 1 July 2010: Appointments

St Peter's College

Directorship of Development and Alumni Relations

St Peter's College wishes to appoint a Director of Development and Alumni Relations to lead the college's fundraising and related alumni activities.

This is a challenging and hands-on post in an ambitious and thriving college of Oxford University. It will suit a highly motivated individual with a track record of achieving targets in a demanding environment. It will involve working closely with the incoming Master, Mark Damazer, the fellows of the college, and St Peter's alumni. The salary will be not less than £55,000 per annum with other benefits that reflect the importance that the college attaches to this post. It is pensionable within the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS). The successful candidate will be appointed for three years in the first instance. He or she will be a fellow of the college.

Further details and application instructions are available on the college's Web site at www.spc.ox.ac.uk/text/70/vacancies.html, or may be obtained from the College Secretary (e-mail: college.secretary@spc.ox.ac.uk, telephone: Oxford (2)78864).

Junior Research Fellowship in Biochemistry

St Peter's College is seeking to appoint a non-stipendiary Junior Research Fellow in Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry with effect from October 2010. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will be a specialist in either Biophysics or in Molecular Cell Biology but specialists in other relevant areas are also invited to apply. The appointment will be for one year in the first instance, with the possibility of renewal for up to two further years. The fellow will be entitled to full membership of the SCR, with lunches and dinners provided free of charge when the kitchens are open. He or she will also have shared use of a teaching room. The fellow will be expected to teach for three to four hours per week during term time, payable at standard hourly rates. It is envisaged that the equivalent of one teaching hour per week will be taken up with the administration of teaching.

It is expected that the fellow will be engaged in excellent research at the postdoctoral level, and the college particularly welcomes applicants who hold postdoctoral fellowships or research assistantships in Oxford but do not yet have a formal college attachment; the Junior Research Fellowship may be held in conjunction with such a position, following approval of the main funder.

Applicants should send a curriculum vitae, a one-page summary of their research interests and the names and contact details of two referees to the College Secretary, St Peter's College, Oxford OX1 2DL by 12 noon on Wednesday, 14 July.

Enquiries should be addressed to the College Secretary (e-mail: college.secretary@spc.ox.ac.uk).
