University Counselling Service: vacation arrangementsThe University Counselling Service will be closed from Monday, 22 December, until Friday, 2 January inclusive. In tenth week (15–19 December), and week −1 (5–9 January), the Counselling Service will be open 9.30 a.m.–4 p.m., Monday–Thursday, and 9.30 a.m.–1.30 p.m. on Friday. From noughth week (week beginning Monday, 12 January) onwards the opening times will be the usual hours, 9.15 a.m.–5.15 p.m.

Professor Flyvbjerg will be a fellow of St Anne's College. Department of Engineering ScienceThe Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Board has conferred the Headship of the Department of Engineering Science on PROFESSOR GUY HOULSBY, MA PH.D Camb, MA Oxf, Professor of Civil Engineering and Fellow of Brasenose College, for five years from 1 July 2009. Conferments of the Title of Visiting ProfessorThe Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Board has conferred the title of Visiting Professor in Economic Geology upon LAURENCE J. ROBB, B.SC M.SC PH.D Witwatersrand, Visiting Senior Research Fellow, Department of Earth Sciences, for three years from 1 December 2008. The Medical Sciences Board has conferred the title of Visiting Professor in Tropical Medicine on C. SIBLEY, BA, MA, MS, PH.D, currently Affiliate Professor, Seattle Biomedical Research Institute, Seattle, for three years from 1 November 2008.
