CONGREGATION 18 November 2 p.m.Further consultation by the Task Force on Academic Employment on proposals for career progression for academics: topic for discussionA Congregation Discussion will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, 18 November 2008 in the Sheldonian Theatre. The topic will be the consultative document issued by the Task Force on Academic Employment on specific proposals for career progression for academics, in the shape of a promotions system. The consultative document has been published as Gazette Supplement (1) to No. 4852 (23 July) and Supplement (2) to No. 4855 (2 October), and is available at www.admin.ox.ac.uk/ps/staff/academic/tfnews/2008consultative.pdf. Under the regulation governing topics for discussion, no vote is taken but it is the duty of Council to give consideration to the remarks made. Further detailed consideration is being given, in discussion between a sub-group of Council and representatives of members of Congregation who requested such a Discussion, to the most effective way of organising the proceedings, against the background of the Regulations for the Conduct of Business in Congregation ( www.admin.ox.ac.uk/statutes/regulations/529-122b.shtml), in particular as these apply to Discussions of this type ( www.admin.ox.ac.uk/statutes/regulations/529-122b.shtml#_Toc28141343).
