Language Centre

Writing a Thesis or Dissertation

This one-week, fifteen-hour intensive course will be held in the Language Centre from Monday, 16 March, to Friday, 20 March inclusive (10 a.m.–1 p.m. daily). It is specially designed to enable those with heavy schedules to take the course in academic writing. The programme is similar to that covered in the Hilary Term course.

Topics dealt with include writing a thesis introduction, discussion, conclusion and abstract and reviewing the literature. Further information may be found at www.lang.ox.ac.uk.

APPOINTMENTS

Conferment of the Title of Visiting Professor

On the recommendation of the School of Geography and the Environment, the Social Sciences Board has conferred the title of Visiting Professor on LORD (NORMAN) FOSTER, DIP.ARCH CERT.T.P Manc, MA Yale, from 3 February 2009 until 2 February 2012.

Recognition of Distinction

The following title has been conferred by the Vice-Chancellor on behalf of the Recognition of Distinction Committee:

D.J. DIXON, MA D.PHIL Oxf, University Lecturer in Organic Chemistry and Fellow of Wadham College: Professor of Chemistry, with effect from 1 October 2008.
