A musical exploration of bell themes, featuring hand-bell change ringing and carillons by Mulet, Murrill and Vierne (the Oxford University Society of Change Ringers, and Myles Hartley, organ). 19 Feb. LAURENCE LYNDON-JONES (organ): toccatas by Bach, Boëllmann and Buxtehude. 26 Feb. jOHN BUCKLEY (tenor): songs by Finzi and Britten. Wolfson CollegeJONATHAN KIRBY, VICTORIA ALEXANDER, and SARAH COOPER (soloists), with YUMI UCHIYAMA (piano) and YUKO KURABAYASHI (violin), will perform the following at 5 p.m. on Sunday, 8 February, in Wolfson College: Chopin, Ballade No. 1, op. 23 (piano); Liszt, Un sospiro (piano); Beethoven, Grande Sonate Pathétique (piano); Kreisler, Prelude and Allegro (violin); Schubert, arr. Smallwood, An Die Musik (soloists); and Lloyd Webber, Pie Jesu (soloists). Admission costs £5, concessions £3; proceeds are in aid of the African Medical and Research Foundation.
APPOINTMENTConferment of the Title of Visiting ProfessorOn the recommendation of the Philosophy Board, the Humanities Board has conferred the title of Visiting Professor on GAIL FINE, BA Michigan, MA PH.D Harvard, Professor of Philosophy, Cornell University, for five years from 1 October 2009.
