Scholarships and Prizes 2008: Hardship

Oxford Opportunity Bursaries

The Oxford Opportunity Bursary provides additional funding for students from lower-income backgrounds. This includes all 'home' students paying the £3,145 fee in 2008–9 who are reading for an undergraduate degree or PGCE, and first year graduate entry medics. All students eligible for higher education maintenance support, and who have been financially assessed by their Local Authority or equivalent body, are entitled to be assessed for an Oxford Opportunity Bursary.

The Oxford Opportunity Bursary is worth between £100 and £3,150 in each year of study (up to £4,000 in the first year). Information regarding bursary levels and income thresholds can be found at www.oxfordopportunity.com. Students who believe they are eligible for an Oxford Opportunity Bursary and who have not yet received a letter from Student Funding Services should enquire at their college for further information or contact oxfordopportunity@admin.ox.ac.uk.
