Supplement (4) to Oxford University Gazette No. 4855. Wednesday, 8 October 2008.

Scholarships and Prizes 2008: Travel and Study Abroad

Ilchester Fund Travel Grants 2008–9

Applications are invited for grants (not normally of a value of more than £250 each) to assist with the costs of travel for the purposes of study and research in subjects connected with the Slavonic Languages or Literature, or the History of the Slavonic Nations. The need for an historical element in projects which are not primarily in the fields of Slavonic Languages or Literature is emphasised.

It should also be noted that grants will not be made towards the cost of attendance at language courses, and that the fact that an application is for study in one of the countries concerned will not in itself qualify it for support from the fund.

Those eligible to apply under the terms of this notice are students for Oxford postgraduate degrees and diplomas (other than graduate students under the Board of the Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages). Account may be taken of any other possible sources of financial support available to applicants.

To apply please complete an application form available from the Modern Languages faculty Web site Please return the form by post or e-mail to Prizes and Awards, 41 Wellington Square, Oxford OX1 2JF ( by Friday of week three of Hilary Term (Friday, 6 February 2009).

Graduate students under the Modern Languages Board are referred to the arrangements for travel grants administered by the Graduate Studies Committee of the faculty board.
