Regulations for Committees Reporting Directly to Council or One of its Main Committees, Buildings and Estates Subcommittee

Corrigendum

When changes were made to Council Regulations 15 of 2002, concerning committees reporting directly to Council, to reflect the dissolution of the Life and Environmental Sciences Division (Gazette, 23 March 2006, p. 836), the number of positions held by divisional board representatives on the Buildings and Estates Subcommittee in regulation 3.12 (3)–(7) should have been reduced by one to four, and the other positions on the Subcommittee renumbered (amendments underlined):

'(3)–(6) one person appointed by each of the divisional boards;

(7) the Director of University Library Services and Bodley's Librarian or a person nominated by the director;

(8) a person appointed by the Committee for the Museums and Scientific Collections from among the directors of the University's museums;

(9), (10) two persons elected by Congregation.'


Changes in Regulations

Council has made the following changes in regulations, to come into effect on 7 March.

Main Committees of Council and Divisional Boards

1 In Council Regulations 15 of 2002, concerning committees reporting directly to Council (Supplement (1) to Gazette No. 4634, 16 October 2002, p. 226), in regulation 2.1, concerning the composition of Council's Educational Policy and Standards Committee, delete (6) and substitute:

'(6) the Chairman of the Committee of Senior Tutors;'.

'(6) the Chairman of the Committee of Senior Tutors;'.

'(18)–(19) two persons appointed, for a three-year term, under the procedures of the Conference of Colleges. They shall have appropriate experience and understanding of academic policy and finance and be familiar with the subject areas concerned, but should not hold a salaried teaching or research post within the division.'

5 Ibid., in regulation 10, concerning the composition of the Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Board, delete (26) and substitute:

'(26)–(28) three persons appointed, for a three-year term, under the procedures of the Conference of Colleges. They shall have appropriate experience and understanding of academic policy and finance and be familiar with the subject areas concerned, but should not hold a salaried teaching or research post within the division.'

7 Ibid., in regulation 15, concerning the composition of the Social Sciences Divisional Board, delete (20) and substitute:

'(20)–(21) two persons appointed, for a three-year term, under the procedures of the Conference of Colleges. They shall have appropriate experience and understanding of academic policy and finance and be familiar with the subject areas concerned, but should not hold a salaried teaching or research post within the division;'

[The amendments (i) make changes in the title of Conference of Colleges Officers serving on Council committees following the abolition of Conference's Academic Subcommittee, and Finance and General Purposes Committee; and (ii) make changes in the number and mode of appointment of Conference representatives on divisional boards. These changes follow extensive consultation on the recommendations in the report of the Conference of Colleges Working Party on Joint Planning and Decision Making.]
