University Gazette, 20 September 2007: Notices
GENERAL NOTICESStatutes approved by Her Majesty in CouncilMr Vice-Chancellor has received a communication from the Clerk of Her Majesty's Privy Council, stating that on 25 July 2007 Her Majesty was pleased to approve the Statutes (i) replacing a reference in the Schedule to the Life and Environmental Sciences Division with a reference to the Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Division, printed in Gazette, Vol. 137, pp. 4–5 (approved by Congregation on 10 October 2006, p. 113); and (ii) adding a new Part concerning the C.S. Orwin Collection to the Schedule, printed in Gazette, Vol. 137, p. 763 (approved by Congregation on 6 March 2007, p. 815).
Publication of the University Calendar 2007–8Publication of the University Calendar for the forthcoming academic year will take place on Thursday of First Week (11 October). The Calendar is usually published on the final Thursday of September. Publication has this year been delayed to allow time for the presentation to Council of a new format of the University's symbol, incorporating the University's arms, to be used henceforth in official publications. The presentation took place at the meeting of Council on 10 September.
Radcliffe Science Library, Long Vacation and Michaelmas Term 2007The discovery earlier in the summer of unexpected quantities of asbestos has delayed completion of the construction work at the Radcliffe Science Library. However, work on the building has been rescheduled in such a way as to ensure that the RSL will function effectively as a lending library from 1 October even though the final elements of the repurposing programme will only be in place by the beginning of January 2008. Entry to the RSL continues to be through the portakabins. The collections of the Hooke Lending Library were moved into the RSL over August and the Geography and Environment Library will be moved in September. Although the Hooke and Geography and Environment Libraries will cease to exist as separate libraries, relocation of these collections means that readers wishing to borrow material will benefit from the RSL's longer weekday and weekend opening hours. It is hoped that all services can continue to be provided. The library may be contacted by telephone ((2)72800) or e-mail (enquiries.rsl@ouls.ox.ac.uk). Its Web site is at www.ouls.ox.ac.uk/rsl/.
