The sole business comprises a question to which no opposition has been notified and in respect of which no request for an adjournment has been received, and Mr Vice-Chancellor has accordingly declared the proposal approved without a meeting under the provisions of Sect. 7 (1) of Statute IV (Supplement (1) to Gazette No. 4633, 9 October 2002, Vol. 133, p. 100). Declaration of approval of appointment of Vice-ChancellorThe proposal that ANDREW D. HAMILTON, B.SC Exe, M.SC British Columbia, PH.D Camb, FRS, currently Provost and the Benjamin Silliman Professor of Chemistry and Professor in the Department of Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry, Yale University, be appointed Vice-Chancellor for seven years from 1 October 2009, duly made by Council on the recommendation of the Nominating Committee for the Vice-Chancellorship under the provisions of regulation 5 of Council Regulations 21 of 2002 (Supplement (2) to Gazette No. 4628, 26 June 2002, p. 1418), as amended on 23 March 2006 (Gazette, Vol. 136, p. 837), made under section 8 of Statute IX concerning Officers of the University (published in Supplement (1) to Gazette No. 4633, 9 October 2002), is approved.
