COUNCIL OF THE UNIVERSITY
Council has made the following changes in regulations, to
come into effect on 29 February.
College Contributions
In Council Regulations 1 of 2005 (Gazette,
Vol. 135, p. 1110, as amended on 21 September 2006,
Gazette, Vol. 137, p. 2) concerning College
Contributions, delete existing regulation 2 and
substitute:
'2. The sum payable by each college under section 5 until
2008 shall be calculated as follows, the tax bands and tax
rates for a particular financial year being decided by
Council by regulation on the recommendation of the College
Contributions Committee before the end of that year.
Payment to be made in Hilary Term, based on accounts
for the immediately preceding financial year. The tax bands
and tax rates for 2007–8 are as follows:
On the first £30 million of taxable wealth NIL
On the next £3 million 0.10 per cent
On the next £3 million 0.20 per cent
On the next £3 million 0.30 per cent
On taxable wealth over £39 million 0.36 per cent'.
[This amendment confirms that the tax bands and tax
rates for calculating contributions from colleges in the
final year of the current College Contributions Scheme remain
the same as for the previous year.]
