GENERAL NOTICES

Arrangements Concerning Car-parking on University Land

Charges for Parking Permits

Council has agreed to introduce revised charges for permits to park on university land. The revised charges will apply from the 2008–9 permits, which will be issued in July 2008 onwards. The new charges are as follows:

(a) An annual charge equivalent to 0.5 per cent of gross contractual salary (subject to a minimum charge of £20 and a maximum charge of £495) for staff holding a peak permit valid at any one of the central area, Old Road Campus and Radcliffe Infirmary sites.

(b) An annual charge of £20 for staff holding an off-peak permit.

(c) An annual charge of £20 for staff holding a peak permit valid at either Begbroke or Osney Mead.

(d) All the above charges are to apply from 1 July 2008 except those charges relating to the Old Road Campus which will be phased in as follows:

(i) Old Road Campus (from 1 July 2008 to 30 June 2009) An annual charge equivalent to 0.166 per cent of gross contractual salary (subject to a minimum charge of £20 for salary up to £10,000, a minimum charge of £40 for salary between £10,001 and £20,000, a minimum charge of £60 for salary between £20,001 and £30,000, a minimum charge of £80 for salary over £30,000 and a maximum charge of £495) for staff holding a peak permit valid at Old Road Campus.

(ii) Old Road Campus (from 1 July 2009 to 30 June 2010) An annual charge equivalent to 0.33 per cent of gross contractual salary (subject to a minimum charge of £20 for salary up to £10,000, a minimum charge of £40 for salary between £10,001 and £20,000 and a maximum charge of £495) for staff holding a peak permit valid at Old Road Campus.

(iii) Old Road Campus (from 1 July 2010) An annual charge equivalent to 0.5 per cent of gross contractual salary (subject to a minimum charge of £20 and a maximum charge of £495) for staff holding a peak permit valid at Old Road Campus. Note: the arrangements for the Old Road Campus are subject to the condition that individuals at this site will not pay less than they are currently being charged in the first two years.

Musical Events

Harris Manchester College

Lunch-time organ recital

MYLES HARTLEY will perform a programme of English music for May Day, with pieces by Hollins, Ogden, Riley and Walton, at 1.30 p.m. on Thursday, 1 May, in the chapel, Harris Manchester College. APPOINTMENTS

Kadoorie Professorship of Trauma Rehabilitation

SARAH ELIZABETH (SALLIE) LAMB, M.SC S'ton, D.PHIL Oxf, Director, Warwick Clinical Trials Unit, and Professor of Rehabilitation, Division of Health in the Community, Warwick Medical School, University of Warwick, and Visiting Professor, Kadoorie Critical Care Research Centre, University of Oxford, has been appointed to the professorship on a part-time (50 per cent) basis. She took up her duties on 28 April 2008.

Professor Lamb will be a fellow of Wadham College.


Conferments of the Title of Visiting Professor

The Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Board has conferred the title of Visiting Professor in Zoology upon LUKE ALPHEY, MA Camb, PH.D Dund, Director and Chief Scientist, Oxitec Ltd, for three years from 1 May 2008.

The Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Board has conferred the title of Visiting Professor in Plant Sciences upon PROFESSOR DAVID MABBERLEY, MA D.PHIL Oxf, PH.D Camb, Keeper of the Herbarium, Library, Art and Archives, Royal Botanic Gardens Kew, for three years from 1 May 2008.
