Scholarships and Prizes 2007: Physical Sciences

Prizes for Performance in the Final Honour School of Physics

One or more prizes may be awarded by the Examiners in the Final Honour School of Physics each year for performance in the examinations and for outstanding project work by candidates in the MPhys or BA examination. No special application is required.

The Scott Prize for performance in the BA (three-year) examination (£300)

The Scott Prize for performance in the M.Phys (four-year) examination (£500)

The Scott Prize for performance in the Teaching and Learning Physics in Schools Option (£100)

The Gibbs Prize for performance in the M.Phys examination (£250)

The Gibbs Prize for practical work in Part A of the examination (£100)

The Gibbs Prize for practical work in Part B of the examination (£100)

The Gibbs Prize for the best performance in the Physics Department Speaking Competition (£100)

M.Phys Project prizes (each prize is £100):

The Gibbs Prize for the best use of experimental apparatus in an MPhys project

The Oxford Lasers Prize for a project in Optical Physics

The John Thresher Prize for a project in Particle and Nuclear Physics

The BP Prize for the best final year Theoretical Physics Project

The Johnson Memorial Prize for a project in Astrophysics

The Johnson Memorial Prize for a project in Atmospheric, Oceanic and Planetary Physics

A Physics Prize for a project in Condensed Matter Physics

The Data Connection Prize for the best use of Software in an MPhys Project

The Rolls-Royce Prize for Innovation in an MPhys Project
