CONSULTATIVE NOTICEICT Strategic Plan Consultation ExerciseCouncil's Planning and Resource Allocation Committee (PRAC) has released for consideration across the collegiate University a consultation document on a draft ICT Strategic Plan, to which individual staff and students (as well as boards, committees and other university bodies) are encouraged to respond. The consultation document is available at http://www.ict.ox.ac.uk/strategy/plan/plan.xml and responses can be submitted on-line at http://www.ict.ox.ac.uk/strategy/plan/form/strategyform.xsp or alternatively by e-mail to ict@ox.ac.uk. The full draft ICT Strategic Plan is available at: http://www.ict.ox.ac.uk/strategy/plan/plan.xml.ID=route_planner. The Acting Director of ICT, Professor Paul Jeffreys, is available to discuss matters raised or to attend consultation meetings. The deadline for responses is Friday, 26 January 2007. Following completion of the consultation exercise, it is hoped that a final version of the Strategic Plan will be put to PRAC for approval before the end of Hilary Term 2007.
APPOINTMENTSProfessorship of the History of ArtCRAIG CLUNAS (BA. CAMBRIDGE, PH.D. London), Percival David Professor of Chinese and East Asian Art, School of Oriental and African Studies, London, has been appointed to the professorship with effect from 1 August 2007. Professor Clunas will be a fellow of Trinity College. Conferments of the Title of Visiting ProfessorThe Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Board has conferred the title of Visiting Professor in Physics upon PATRICK GILL, B.SC., D.PHIL., C.PHYS., F.INST.P., Head of Optical Frequency Standards at the National Physical Laboratory, for a period of three years from 1 January 2007. The Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Board has conferred the title of Visiting Professor in Engineering Science upon ROGER GUNN (B.SC., PH.D.), Director of PET Modelling, GlaxoSmithKline, for a period of three years from 1 January 2007. Sub-department of Organic ChemistryThe Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Board has appointed PROFESSOR T.J. DONOHOE, B.SC., D.PHIL., University Lecturer in Organic Chemistry and Fellow of Magdalen College, to the headship of the Sub-department of Organic Chemistry for a period of five years from 1 October 2006.
