Oxford University Newcomers' Club

The Club welcomes the wives, husbands and partners of visiting scholars, graduates and members of the University who are new to Oxford. It aims to offer help, advice and information, and the opportunity to meet others socially. Informal coffee mornings are held at 13 Norham Gardens every Wednesday 10.30 a.m.–12 noon except for two weeks at Christmas and Easter. Newcomers with children (0–4 years) meet every Friday in term 10.15 a.m.–12 noon. Other term-time activities include a Book Group, informal Conversation Group and tours to colleges, museums, and other places of interest, also country walks, garden trips and a visit to an antique centre. Festive Times at the Bodleian

Wed., 6 Dec., a new exhibition: 'The Flower Garden of Spring: Paintings from Mughal India' will open in the Exhibition Room (Schola Naturalis Philosophiae), Old Schools Quadrangle. Access is free to all. The exhibition will run until Apr. 2007. Opening times: Mon.–Fri., 9 a.m.–5 p.m., Sat., 9 a.m.–4.30 p.m.

Thurs., 7 Dec., the Divinity School will be open for a viewing of Christmas illustrations in medieval manuscripts from three Books of Hours, as well as charming Tolkien drawings. These illustrations were carefully selected for the Bodleian's 2006 Christmas card range. All gifts and cards can also be viewed and ordered on the web site: www.shop.bodley.ox.ac.uk. MECO Monthly Forum
