APPOINTMENTS AND ASSIGNMENT

Conferments of the Title of Visiting Professor

The Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Board has conferred the title of Visiting Professor in Engineering Science upon DR JOHN BIRCH (B.SC., PH.D.), Chief Scientific Officer, Lonza Biopharmaceuticals, for a period of three years from 1 October 2006.

The Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Board has conferred the title of Visiting Professor in Physics upon PROFESSOR RICHARD ELLIS, D.PHIL. (B.SC.), Steele Professor of Astronomy at the California Institute of Technology, for a period of three years from 1 October 2006.

The Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Board has conferred the title of Visiting Professor in Physics upon PROFESSOR ANTHONY READHEAD (B.SC., PH.D.), Barbara and Stanley R. Rawn, Jr., Professor of Astronomy at the California Institute of Technology, for a period of three years from 1 October 2006.

The Medical Sciences Board has conferred the title of Visiting Professor of Communicable Disease Epidemiology on p.e.m. fine (ab Princeton, m.sc., ph.d., London, vmd Pennsylvania), currently Professor of Communicable Diseases Epidemiology, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, for a period of three years from 1 November 2006.

On the recommendation of the Oxford Internet Institute, the Social Sciences Board has conferred the title of Visiting Professor on PROFESSOR M. CASTELLS (PH.D. Paris-Sorbonne) for three years from 1 November 2006.

On the recommendation of the Oxford Internet Institute, the Social Sciences Board has conferred the title of Visiting Professor on PROFESSOR Y. WILKS (MA, PH.D. Cambridge), for three years from 1 November 2006.


Department of Clinical Neurology

The Medical Sciences Board has assigned the Department of Clinical Neurology to A.C. VINCENT, MA (MB, BS, M.SC. London), Fellow of Somerville College and Professor of Clinical Neuroimmunology, for a further period from 1 November 2007 to 30 September 2008.
