Scholarships and Prizes 2006:
Hardship
ABBOTT'S BURSARIESThe Board of Management of the Abbott Fund invites applications, during Michaelmas Term, for the award of bursaries to members of the University who are:
(a) children (including orphan children) of the clergy of the Church of England, or the Church in Wales;
(b) reading for (i) a first degree, or (ii) the Degree of Bachelor of Medicine or an equivalent degree, or (iii) a second Honour School, of the University; and
(c) stand in need of financial assistance to enable them to obtain the full benefit of a university education. Funds are limited and the board expects that applicants will have borrowed their full entitlement from the Student Loans Company. In addition, the board expects applicants to have sought financial support from other sources administered within colleges, in particular the Access to Learning Fund. The board does not discriminate against those who have been unsuccessful in securing such funds. Any students who believe that they are eligible for an Abbott Bursary should contact their Senior Tutor or College Chaplain for further information, or refer to http://www.admin.ox.ac.uk/councilsec/trustfunds/abbott.shtml. The deadline for the 2006-7 application round is Friday 1 December 2006 (Week 8). Bursaries are paid in the second half of Hilary Term.
