SCHOLARSHIPS FOR STUDY IN GERMANYThe following scholarships offering the opportunity for Oxford graduates and final-year undergraduates to study in Germany are available in the academic year 20078.
Two scholarships are available for graduate and undergraduate (final year) students at either the University of Oxford or University of Cambridge. They are tenable for one or two years at any academic institution in Germany. The successful candidates must undertake research at doctoral or postdoctoral level, or give evidence of a workable project not connected to a research degree. There is the opportunity to obtain a German degree. The current value of the scholarships is 15,000 euro per annum (approximately £10,200). The scholarship is open to members of the University who are British subjects, under twenty-eight years of age by 1 October 2007, and who have either completed all the examinations required for the Oxford BA degree, or have embarked on a course of postgraduate study at the University.
Michael Foster Memorial Scholarship
One scholarship is available for graduate and undergraduate (final year) students at the University of Oxford. The scholarship is tenable for ten months from 1 October 2007 at any university, technical university, or art or music academy in Germany, and may be extended for a second year. The scholar will receive a monthly maintenance grant and remission of institution fees. A grant will be made to assist with travel expenses, and a small book grant will be available each term. The scholarship is open to members of the University who are British citizens, under thirty-two years of age by 1 October 2007, and who have either completed all the examinations required for the Oxford BA Degree, or have embarked on a course of postgraduate study at the University.
Theodor Heuss Research Fellowship
One fellowship is available for postgraduate or postdoctoral students at the University of Oxford. The fellowship is tenable for one year, in the first instance, at any university or other institution of higher learning in Germany. The holder of the fellowship will receive a monthly maintenance grant, which is currently 2,100 euros for postdoctoral fellows and 1,500 euros for doctoral students; travel expenses and institution fees will also be covered. The fellowship is open to members of the University who are British citizens, under thirty-two years of age by 1 October 2007, and who have either embarked on a course of postgraduate study or have already obtained a postgraduate qualification of the University.
