Medieval and Modern Languages
HEATH HARRISON TRAVELLING SCHOLARSHIPS 20067The Board of Management for the Heath Harrison Travelling Scholarships gives notice that at least sixteen Junior Heath Harrison Travelling Scholarships will be awarded in Hilary Term 2007 to candidates judged by the board to be of sufficient merit. Scholarships will be awarded to students reading either Modern Languages or a Joint School with Modern Languages, for specific projects to be undertaken during Long Vacations or the Year Abroad. Applications for general Year Abroad funding are not likely to be successful. The maximum value of Scholarhips is £1200. Scholarships awarded in recent years have been typically between £500 and £1000.
Applicants should consult the Faculty Web site www.mod-langs.ox.ac.uk for further guidance on the eligibility of projects. Applications should be in the form of a project proposal giving a detailed account of the proposed visit and its purpose, including estimated costs and details of other funds available or applied for, together with a letter of recommendation from a tutor or supervisor. Letters of recommendation should provide an assessment of the candidate's academic performance and indicate how their proposed project will benefit their undergraduate studies overall.
Applications, which should not exceed 1,000 words, should be sent to the Administrator's Assistant (Miss Samantha Valentine), 41 Wellington Square, Oxford OX1 2JF, no later than Friday of week 10 in Michaelmas Term (Friday 15 December 2006).
