APPOINTMENTSProfessorship of EconomicsJAMES PETER NEARY, B.PHIL., D.PHIL. (BA, MA University College, Dublin), Professor of Political Economy, University College, Dublin, has been appointed to the professorship with effect from 1 September 2006. Professor Neary will be a fellow of Merton College. Conferment of the Title of Visiting ProfessorOn the recommendation of the Oxford University Centre for the Environment, the Social Sciences Board has conferred the title of Visiting Professor in Geography on PROFESSOR NIGEL THRIFT, MA (BA Wales, PH.D., D.SC. Bristol), FBA, Vice-Chancellor, University of Warwick, for a period of five years from 1 July 2006 in the first instance.
