CONSULTATIVE NOTICEReview of the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine ArtThe Humanities Board is undertaking a review of the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art as part of its programme of regular rolling reviews of units under its aegis. The Head of the Humanities Division, Dr R.C.S. Walker, will chair the review committee, the terms of reference of which are: (i) to review progress in response to the last review, subsequent changes made to the governance of the School, and the identification of any further action required in the light of changed circumstances; (ii) to review by reference to international standards of excellence the quality of academic activities in the School and the balance between these activities, taking into account in the context of the University's Mission Statement and Corporate Plan, all relevant factors, especially: research, organisational and management structures within the School, including such matters as academic and non-academic staff planning and recruitment; accommodation and future space needs; size and shape of the student body. The membership of the review committee is: Dr R.C.S. APPOINTMENTSNuffield Professorship of Comparative PoliticsNANCY BERMEO (BA Mount Holyoke College, PH.D. Yale), Professor, Department of Politics, Princeton University, has been appointed to the professorship with effect from 1 March 2007. Professor Bermeo will be a fellow of Nuffield College. Masoumeh and Fereydoon Soudavar Professorship of Persian StudiesEDMUND HERZIG, D.PHIL. (MA Cambridge), Senior Lecturer in Persian Studies, Department of Middle Eastern Studies, University of Manchester, and Associate Fellow of the Russia and Eurasia Programme of the Royal Institute of International Affairs, has been appointed to the professorship with effect from 1 October 2006. Dr Herzig will be a fellow of Wadham College. Conferments of the Title of Visiting ProfessorThe Medical Sciences Board has conferred the following titles of Visiting Professor for the periods stated. Visiting Professor in Cardiac Cellular Electrophysiology: K.W. SPITZER (BA, MS, Virginia, PH.D. New York), currently Professor of Physiology, University of Utah, for three years in the first instance from 1 July 2006. Visiting Professor in Clinical Geratology: G.K. WILCOCK, BM, B.CH., DM (B.SC. London), currently Vice-President of the Research Institute for the Care of the Elderly, Bath, for three years in the first instance from 1 July 2006. Visiting Professor in Clinical Neuroscience: D.W. CHOI (PH.D., MD Harvard), currently Executive Vice-President, Neurosciences, Merck Research Laboratories, Pennsylvania, for three years in the first instance from 1 July 2006.
