Oxford University Gazette, 15 December 2005: Appointments
TEMPLETON COLLEGE
CumingSaga Graduate Teaching Assistantships and Graduate Research AssistantshipsThanks to a generous donation from the CumingSaga Fund, Templeton College intends to award two Graduate Assistantships from January 2006. These awards will provide funding of £3,000 each which will normally be set against both college and university fees. The award is for one year and is subject to the holder making satisfactory progress during that year. The awards are intended to assist students of proven outstanding academic excellence at the graduate level and are restricted to those who are already embarked on a research degree at the University of Oxford and are Templeton College students or currently studying under the direction of a fellow of Templeton, or accepted to do so. Candidates should normally have completed a year of graduate work by the commencement of the award. The assistantships will be associated with two of the following three activities: 1. The Oxford Futures Forum (Programme Director: Rafael Ramirez) 2. The Strategic Renewal Research Programme (Programme Director: Rafael Ramirez) 3. Research into the strategies used to challenge an established industry leader (Programme Director: Loizos Heracleaous) These awards offer the opportunity for students to work alongside fellows in their work in the field of executive education or in their research and as such they are intended to extend the experience of students within the broad field of management education. The Graduate Teaching Assistant and Graduate Research Assistant will be asked to provide flexible assistance with the work of the particular Programme Director for a maximum equivalent of twenty-four days in the year. However, the exact nature of the opportunity varies between the three activities listed above and will need to be discussed and agree with the Programme Director. Applicants for these awards should send a letter of application; a full curriculum vitae; a statement of their own research of no more than 1,000 words; and a statement of which one of the three activities they wish to be associated with, and their reasons for this choice. Applicants must ensure that their current and any prospective supervisors are aware that they are making the application and ask their supervisor to send a letter of reference directly to the Senior Tutor. Previous holders of these assistantships are not precluded from applying. Applications and references must be received by the Senior Tutor, Templeton College, Oxford OX1 5NY, by 31 January. |
