Tarmac Graduate Scholarship 2005

Jesus College proposes to award one prestigious, fully funded scholarship, generously endowed by Tarmac, for postgraduate study and research on natural resources in the fields of the physical and social sciences (including Geography and Law), with effect from October 2005 for three (or in certain cases four) years.

The scholarship is restricted to applicants from Poland or the Czech Republic.

Each year, the scholarship will cover a maintenance allowance for a single person (currently £10,500 per annum), university fees at the EU rate, and college fees. Grants will be available towards research travel, books, and other research costs.

To apply, candidates must make two applications at the same time:

  • apply to the University for a place to read for the Doctor of Philosophy degree, naming Jesus College as your chosen college and the Jesus College Tarmac Scholarship as your proposed source of funding: see the University's web pages at and in its Graduate Prospectus for details about how to apply;
  • apply to Jesus College for the Tarmac Scholarship. Further details and application forms may be obtained from the Senior Tutor, Jesus College, Oxford OX1 3DW (telephone: Oxford (2)79723, fax: (2)79769, e-mail:, or from the college's web site at

The closing date for both applications is Friday, 18 March.
