GENERAL NOTICES

St John's College and Colin Carr

The following concerts will be held as shown in the Auditorium, St John's College.

Admission is free. Programmes are available from the Porters' Lodge, but are reserved for members of the college until about ten days before the event. Each programme is valid as an admission ticket until about ten minutes before the event; any vacant seats will then be filled from the door.

Mon. 28 Feb., 8.30 p.m.: THE MARTINU STRING QUARTET performs works by Dvorák, Janácek, and Smetana.

Mon. 25 Apr., 8.30 p.m.: PASCAL DEVOYON (piano), PHILIPPE GRAFFIN (violin), CHARLES NEIDICH (clarinet), and COLIN CARR (cello) perform Hindemith's Quartet and Messiaen's Quartet for the End of Time.

Sun., 15 May, 3 p.m.: ELIOT FISK gives a recital of guitar music. Further details will be announced later.

APPOINTMENTS

Medical Sciences Board

The Medical Sciences Board has conferred the title of Visiting Professor of Systems Engineering on B.J. ANDREWS (B.SC. Reading, M.SC. Sheffield, PH.D. Strathclyde), Deputy Head, School of Health Science, Brunel University, for three years from 1 March 2005.

The board has conferred the title of Visiting Professor of Mammalian Genetics on R.D. COX (B.SC. Sussex, PH.D. London), Programme Leader, Diabetes, QTL and Modifier Loci Group, MRC Mammalian Genetics Unit, Medical Research Council, Harwell, for three years from 1 March 2005.

The board has reconferred the title of Visiting Professor of Tropical Medicine on P.O. OLLIARO (MD Pavia, PH.D. Rome, HDR Grenoble), Executive Director, European and Developing Countries Clinical Trial Partnership, for a period of five years from 1 April 2005.
